Dayara Bugyal is a wonderful trek, going through meandows and to the top of snow-clad mountains. Various peaks and ranges of Himalayas in Uttarakhand are clearly visible from this trek. A must do.

Dayara Bugyal The Dayara Bugyal grassland starts from 2600 m and goes up to 3500 m. A 9 km trek through forest and rhododendron trace leads to this ancient place, the herdsmen arrive here with their cattle in summers and continue till the onset of winters. In winter the meadows turn into snow land with the potential for skiing and snow activities

I and my friend went for the Dayara Bugyal trek in mid October, 2022. Most people prefer winters for Dayara bugyal to witness these beautiful meadows covered in snow. But we wanted to explore this place in Autumn as in this season we could be able to see all the shades of green and it proved correct! I appreciate The Searching Souls for providing us this wonderful experience and good food at the camp side. One piece of advice for them is they can use better sleeping bags as we were freezing at night.

The Dayara Bugyal trek is a favourite among our seasoned trekkers at Indiahikes. “This trek is superbly rewarding at any time of the year. The forests are splendid in spring, the meadows are an unbeatable green in summer, and they turn orange in autumn, with striking mountain views. The snowscape in winter is a world on its own. You can go any time, and you’ll not be let down,” shares Sandhya UC, co-founder of Indiahikes. On this trek, we have a soft spot for the meadows, which is perfect. "The meadows are so meticulously landscaped that there isn't a single rock or tree out of place." "With the majestic Gangotri mountain range in the background, the rewards are massively disproportionate to the effort you put in," Sandhya says. It's no surprise that it's popular with beginners as well. The reason Dayara Bugyal is so breathtakingly beautiful is because of its location. The meadow is at an elevation of over 10,000 feet. From Dayara, you can see the Greater Himalayan range in all its beauty. The majestic summits of the Gangotri range, including Bandarpunch, Kala Nag, Srikanth, Jaonli, and Draupadi Ka Danda, are so close that you can almost touch them. Trekkers spend hours just watching the sunset over these mountains. The meadow is famous for its alpine flowers, which bloom in a riot of colours during the summer. The most common flowers include Himalayan blue poppies, daisies, and primroses. The oak and rhododendron forests that surround the meadow are a beautiful contrast to the snow-covered mountains. The trek is home to several species of birds, including the Himalayan monal, the state bird of Uttarakhand.

I went for Dayara Bugyal trek back in February 2019. Base camp for this trek is Raithal Village of Uttarkashi District. Distance from Uttarkashi to Raithal Village is around 40 kms. This is considered at beginners trek and have some fantastic views during trek. It will take on an average 3 days to complete this trek. This trek can be done throughout the year depend upon which season you want to do, avoid monsoon months.

**Dayara Bugyal Trek Review:** The Dayara Bugyal Trek is a delightful expedition that unfolds amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Uttarakhand, India. This trek is celebrated for its vast alpine meadows, panoramic views of the Himalayas, and the tranquil beauty of Dayara Bugyal, making it a favorite among nature enthusiasts and trekkers. **Trek Highlights:** 1. **Expansive Meadows:** The trek leads through Dayara Bugyal, a vast expanse of high-altitude alpine meadows adorned with a carpet of wildflowers during the spring and summer, creating a picturesque landscape. 2. **Panoramic Views:** Trekkers are treated to sweeping views of the Gangotri and Bandarpunch mountain ranges, offering a stunning backdrop throughout the journey. 3. **Oak and Rhododendron Forests:** The trail passes through enchanting oak and rhododendron forests, adding a diverse and colorful dimension to the trek. **Best Time to Visit:** The ideal time to undertake the Dayara Bugyal Trek is during the summer months, from June to September, and post-monsoon, from September to November. During these periods, the weather is pleasant, and the meadows are in full bloom. Winter treks are also popular for those seeking a snow-covered landscape, typically from December to March, but conditions are colder and more challenging. **Altitude:** The trek begins at Barsu village, situated at an altitude of around 2,200 meters (7,218 feet), and ascends to Dayara Bugyal at approximately 3,408 meters (11,181 feet). The moderate altitude makes it accessible to a wide range of trekkers, including beginners. **Key Tips for Trekkers:** 1. **Acclimatization:** While the altitude is moderate, spending some time acclimatizing in Barsu village is advisable to ensure a comfortable trek. 2. **Photography Opportunities:** Carry a camera to capture the stunning landscapes, especially during the spring when the meadows are ablaze with wildflowers. 3. **Weather Readiness:** Be prepared for temperature variations. Pack layers to accommodate changing weather conditions, especially during early mornings and evenings. In conclusion, the Dayara Bugyal Trek is a perfect blend of natural beauty and accessibility, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The enchanting meadows, panoramic views, and diverse landscapes make this trek a memorable and rejuvenating experience.
